[quote PeterB]And Starbuck-- why perform operations on her to remove an ovary, if she's just a Cylon, who you know is not going to be able to reproduce in that fashion anyway?
But if she IS a secret cylon, the other cylons wouldn't know she was and experiement on her anyway. Also, the way whatsername reacted to the face of the hidden cylon suggested it was someone who they had wronged in some big way.

Okay, let's run down the main characters:
Adama: No chance. He pre-dates the "human" Cylons, and he has kids.
Tigh: See Adama, minus the kids. And it would ruin the show's best character. Tigh's wife (RIP) would have been perfect, though.
Apollo: Nope, Adama knows he had a kid, and it's Lee.
Starbuck: The leading contender... despite the fact that she's the most human character on the show, and it'd be a huge shark-jump if she's a Cylon.
Laura: Doubtful. Her age also pre-dates the human Cylons, and she wouldn't have gotten cancer, would she?
Helo: Uh, no. That'd make the Helo-Sharon story really stupid.
Tyrol: Nope. He's had a kid. Ditto for Cally.
Sharon: She's a Cylon. Whoops--we knew that already.
Anders: Probably not, but it'd be an interesting twist.
Gaeta: Maybe. It'd explain why he's BSG's Data (besides the fact that Ron Moore needed a Data on the bridge do give all the exposition).
Dee: Entirely possible. Don't know what Xena did to offend her, though.
Baltar: Too anti-climax, among many other reasons. Even so, might be him.
Zarek: Now this would be interesting.
Personally, I'd love it if one of the "secret" Cylons turned out to be Dirk Benedict...

bazookaman, it's not necessarily that they don't know the identity of the final five, but that they don't discuss it (Six's dialogue to Baltar).
Also, even if she is one of the final five, it doesn't explain why-- if they took an ovary from her-- that they couldn't tell she was a Cylon. The only conceivable explanation I can think of is that she's so close to being a human that they cannot tell the difference between her ovary and that of a Cylon... but if that were the case, then they would have no need of this "we need to breed with humans" subplot, as they would have already come close enough to human-hood that there would be no need to interbreed. It would also suggest that the final five are more "perfect" copies of humans than the other seven, which makes no sense either because why go from more perfect to less? Last thing -- it's also inconsistent with Starbuck's having a family, which is established through a fair amount of dialogue. (While it's always possible that she was "swapped" with a real human being who existed at some point, there's the problem that apparently Adama's family knew her for a fair amount of time prior to what we've seen...

My personal bets for some of the final five:
1) Tom Zarek -- fairly obvious.
2) Gaeta -- ditto.
3) Dualla -- ditto.
I don't personally believe Baltar is a Cylon. It's more interesting that he isn't -- that his foibles are particularly human. I loved the next-to-last episode, where he justified his actions by way of a gun being put to his head... Adama rightly noting that in his own mind, Baltar thinks of himself as a victim. I also don't believe that Tigh's wife was a Cylon... again her flaws were particularly human... sleeping with the enemy in order to save her husband's life... only a human female would do that.
That leaves two... or maybe three if I'm wrong with one of the above...

[quote Will Collier]Apollo: Nope, Adama knows he had a kid, and it's Lee.
Is it possible via replacement? I'm not calling out Apollo, necessarily; but has it ever been established that the Cylons are "creations" only and never copies of an existing human?
Starbuck: The leading contender... despite the fact that she's the most human character on the show, and it'd be a huge shark-jump if she's a Cylon.
At this point I think this is too expected. I've not found BSG to be a typical "dumbed down for American audiences" show, and making Kara a Cylon would seem to me to be a step in that direction.
Anders: Probably not, but it'd be an interesting twist.
Baltar: Too anti-climax, among many other reasons. Even so, might be him.
Agreed and agreed, and see "dumb down" comment re/Baltar.
Zarek: Now this would be interesting.
Very much agreed.
Tigh: See Adama, minus the kids. And it would ruin the show's best character. Tigh's wife (RIP) would have been perfect, though.
Agreed, but she still *could* be -- and that would be the twist. On the same token, I half expected a Billy to show up in the 2nd season cliff-hanger, when the cylons were walking in the door of Baltar's office on New Caprica.
Personally, I'd love it if one of the "secret" Cylons turned out to be Dirk Benedict...
How about Shatner?

They should have gotten Shatner for Admiral Cain. Now *that* would have kicked ass...

Will, I am fully expecting Shatner to show up on Heroes. Now... question is... who should he play? I'm thinking Linderman.

I haven't seen Heroes. Between 24, Lost and BSG, I've got as much serial fiction (hell, as much television) as I can manage. That's by far the most TV shows I've watched regularly in the last 5-7 years, at least.

I'm waiting for the divergent story arc. One takes the Cylons forward to symbiosis with biological entities and (eventually) become the Borg in the Trekniverse. The other pulls them down the path of darkness to become (eventually) the Shadows in the Babylon5 storyverse. And there's still room to tie in the Stargate technologies!
