Muted mics, two lefties asking ?s - why would trump do this?
I believe his words were, "Anytime, anywhere."
Biden & Trump agree to muted mikes, no audience at next debate.

His words now mean something? When did that start?

"Gag Order", "Fifth Amendment", "Bone Spurs".

The muted mics were always part of this and specced by the Biden folks.

I think that's a great idea, even if it doesn't include my spec'ed sealed soundproof booth for both candidates. But yeah, I for see Convicted Felon Donald Trump shouting over Biden. I don't know that he can tune him out. Also, there's no way of know if it will happen, but I'd bet that if Convicted Felon Donald Trump does try to talk/shout outside his allotted window, cameras with show that. But dollars to Quarter Pounders with Cheese, Convicted Felon Donald Trump backs out. With no pre-written notes or teleprompter, he's toast in a duel of facts.

If an undecided voter is just tuning in on "politics" and watches the debate, I think they will likely see the muted mikes as a way to make sure each candidate gets their say uninterrupted. I suspect that for many such voters (sorry, thinking stereotypical non-political polite suburban woman), hearing Trump's muffled rantings* at Biden will feel wrong. Feelings about a candidate go a long way with politically disengaged voters. It probably wouldn't be much of an effect, but every little bit helps.
*I'm assuming Trump will rant out of turn because, well, he's himself. But if he somehow is able to contain himself - though I imagine Biden will do a bit of baiting - then it's still a win for Biden because he will be able to defend himself against criticism, lay out his accomplishments, vision and policies without interruption.

I think Ted’s right.

These are all good questions:
1) Will the podiums be far enough apart that if one person shouts things at the top of their lungs, that they'll still be heard by the other's microphone? 2) What is to stop one deranged person from physically leaving their podium (or just moving off to the side a bit) to make threatening gestures and/or remarks? 3) Will they deduct time if someone goes over their allotted time to answer questions, or shouts over the other candidate during their allotted time? I hope they've really thought all these things out, because the Orange Fat Man will pull every dirty trick he can think of to take advantage and make this go in his favor.

Debate ? I have not seen a legitimate debate for years. It’s like a congressional hearing… pre written speeches ignoring every single question, or asking such strange questions that any reasonable response is “I am not an expert in that area. I can call on my expert. Are you an expert in that area ? “
