Not enough, Dakota.

Did you catch Palosi telling Obama "how it's gonna be" and how he's supposed to notify her if any of his people are up on the hill lobbying and what they are lobbying for? No end runs around Palosi and Reid. What a bunch of asshats.

I would like to see the whole Patriot Act go. It should be one of the first things the new Congress takes up.

If you want to do away with it fine but If you are calling Waziristan on Sunday nights, I'd like to know.

Yeah, but don't forget when you start airing your filthy laundry in the open, people who aren't part of your bizarre radio-controlled hive mind might start asking for some sort of proof of your claims.
For example, can you find me some background on the "how it's gonna be" stuff above? Here's all I can find:

Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on President-elect Obama's nominations of Senator Ken Salazar as Secretary of Interior and former Governor Tom Vilsack as Secretary of Agriculture:
"President-elect Obama's nomination of Senator Ken Salazar and former Governor Tom Vilsack brings two more principled and dedicated public servants into the Obama Cabinet.
"Senator Salazar is the committed leader the Interior Department needs right now. The enormous respect he has earned in Congress will only help strengthen his ability to protect America's natural heritage while allowing responsible development of our energy resources.
"As a forceful advocate for energy independence, alternative fuels, and America's family farmers, Governor Vilsack is uniquely prepared to lead the Agriculture Department. I look forward to working with him on these critical issues, particularly as they relate to the implementation of the new farm bill and its emphasis on both renewable energy and meeting Americans' needs for nutritious food."

Hmmm, here we go again with liberal hype running amok.

Let's look back to October 25, 2001 when the Senate was voting on HR3162, the USA PATRIOT Act.

At the time, both democrats controlled the majority with 50 seats and republicans controlled 49 seats in the Senate, with one independent senator who caucused with the democrats.

In the vote on HR3162, the Senate.gov record shows the following votes:

YEA: 98
NAY: 1
Abstain: 1

In the House of Representatives, the vote on October 24, 2001 on HR3162 was as follows(Roll Call 398):

YEA: 357
NAY: 66
Abstain: 9

At the time of the vote (107th Congress), the House was comprised of 220 republicans, 211 democrats and 2 independents (one caucused with the dems and the other with the reps).

While the zealots on here would have us believe that the USA PATRIOT Act is some sort of Bush/Republican Zeitgeist, the votes demonstrate that HR3162 passed with an overwhelming majority of both the Senate and the House and of both parties.

Today, these people postulate that the democratic rising as some sort of saviour in the face of eroding national liberties, the fact remains that the democrats were a major thrust in the destruction of our liberties.

With nearly 50% control of the House and Senate, the democrats could have stopped or impeded the passing of the USA PATRIOT Act. However, they did not. Instead, they were instrumental in the erosion of our true liberties and freedoms.

Later, in July of 2005, when HR 3199 was introduced to extend the USA PATRIOT Act (USA PATRIOT Improvement and Reauthorization Act of 2005), the vote in both the House and Senate were as follows:

SENATE - HR3199 - March 2, 2006

YEA: 89
NAY: 10
Abstain: 1

HOUSE - HR3199 - July 25, 2005 - Roll Call 414

YEA: 257
NAY: 171
Abstain: 6

These votes were cast during the 109th Congress. At the time of the House vote, republicans held 231 seats and democrats held 201 seats (53% and 47%, respectively). During the Senate vote, republicans held 55 seats, democrats held 44 seats and the one independent senator caucused with the democrats, giving 55% and 45%, respectively.

Again, the USA PATRIOT Act was passed by an overwhelming majority of both the House and Senate.

While liberals here may attempt to spin that democrats are here to do us better, the truth is that they have been complicit all along.

BTW, what the people should be demanding is a REPEAL of the USA PATRIOT Act.
