I've pretty much stayed out of this entire assault weapon fiasco but the fact also remains that yes there's
going to be another massacre somewhere someday whether they ban assault weapon sales or not. Maybe
you folks don't keep up with the gun world, I try not to myself, but gun and ammo sales are through the roof
right now. A relative of mine told me last week he purchased another AR, why, who knows, it hard to say how
many he has now. You can't even find 22 caliber ammo these days for just plinking, if you find it it's boxes
of 50 and not 100 or 500 like you used to be able to find. People are hoarding ammo like a war is going to
break out here on US soil. The fact remains if I wanted to buy an assault weapon during the last ban I could
have done so and if there's ever another I'll betcha everything I have I could get one within a matter of hours.

Until parents wake up and start parenting like they should nothing is going change, it's only going to get worse.

The University of Central Florida student who planned to massacre his fellow students had ordered more than $700 worth of weapons online, including two packages of ammunition, gun shooting DVDs, and accessories for his weapons that arrived on campus after the attack had already been thwarted.

The packages contained even more ammunition for the attack that former UCF student James Oliver Seevakumaran, 30, planned to carry out Monday morning shortly after midnight.

He already had a handgun, assault rifle, high capacity magazines, and four homemade bombs he hoped to use on fellow students after pulling the fire alarm and forcing them into the crowded hallways, according to police.

Police said that he had four homemade IEDs that were laced with shrapnel in a backpack in his room, in addition to the guns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

The suspect had a American Tactical .22 caliber assault rifle and a High Point .45 caliber handgun and high capacity magazines, including a drum magazine similar to the type used in the movie theater shooting in Aurora, Colo.

Police discovered today that Seevakumaran had two additional packages that he never picked up at the campus post office that included a sling for his rifle, a magazine, and DVDs on shooting and using lasers with weapons.

Beary said that the suspect spent at least $700 on the weapons and ammunition for the attack.

Seevakumaran had purchased his guns online and picked them up at a local Orlando federal firearms dealer, according to Beary.

If you don't like it, go talk to your Democratic Party operatives. What happened is quite probably a recognition of what CAN be done as opposed to what your party's people THINK should be done.

Politics is the art of the possible (Duke Otto von Bismarck). A total ban is not politically possible in the US at this time.

What you CAN do is continue a grass roots 'conversion' process. Additudinal changes require generations to take effect.

Or you can declare Martial Law, make Obama the Emperor, execute the Supreme Court and Congress, and start issuing Executive Orders.

And see, right there we have the problem with our current political situation. It's examples like this of the ignorant and lazy "vote only along party lines" tactics that our politicians (and apparently those that vote for them) employ that have us pretty well fscked as a nation. I absolutely abhor this mindset. It should be a matter of the Dems being able to wrap up a vote based on every member voting along party lines. There should be enough reasonable Republicans that are willing to do what is best for the country and all of its citizens. I realize both parties are guilty of this but it it is far more often that the Republicans pull this shit and it's disgusting and I'd suggest borderline treasonous.

(vikm).... Um... sorry, but voting for the 'good of the country' is not what representational democracy is all about. It's voting for the 'good of one's constituents' that is supposed to be the rule. The fact that a majority of the constituents believe opposite from, well, you does not make your representative 'treasonous'. You're just in the minority.

Go educate the majority and try again.
