Okay, Elmo's no angel or anything...
No, he's an arrogant ass.
...but he's not totally wrong.
And at this point, that's not at all relevant. It's his behavior that's being challenged.
Being a drama queen, he deliberately exaggerates the tone and import of Jerry's post. There is absolutely no need, except in elmo's head, to attack people who offend his sensibilities. He does not critique, chide, or counsel. Being "not totally wrong" is not a license to launch his silly tirades.
That said, it wouldn't stop me from giving Apple a call and telling them a tale of woe.
And that's just the action that twists Ms. elmo's panties. Just *calling* Apple means that you or Jerry have abandoned all morality and lack any semblance of ethics, and are forcing Apple to assume your responsibility. Oh, the shame.
That makes him rub his little hands with glee.

It's his tone that offends people. He harps on other people's failings (as he sees them). Pointing out the faults of others seems to be his only reason for hanging out here.
I don't HAVE to point out the faults of anyone here.
"I threw stuff out. It all had Apple logos on it. Apple should replace it for me!"
That seems to be a theme around here. I'm not sure if that's just because it's Apple, or if it's generally that no one wants to take responsibility for his own actions.
Really, is it so hard to believe that something got misplaced in a major move? Does that make Jerry an idiot?
It's not at ALL hard to believe that something got misplaced in a major move.
But "oh, dear me, what'll I DO? I don't want to have to pay for another copy..." is just over the line into sheer inanity.
Jerry doesn't want to pay for his mistake of misplacing something during a move. Frankly, when one moves, one budgets for such things. If you're that close to the edge financially that you can't allow for such things happening...

Hardly. Jerry did a perfectly fine job of that all by himself.
If there's a drama queen in this thread, look to the top post.
"Oh, DEAR, whatever will I DO?"

Folks:
Right next to Elmo's name is an option to Ignore his posts. Anyone who lets his posts get to them should use the Ignore option instead of berating him.

Jerry: Lost my Tiger install discs - what'll I do?
Drama Queen's spin: "Oh, DEAR, whatever will I DO?"
First you exaggerate, then you lie about it.
Typical elmo operating procedure.

NO to the first question, YES to the second.
OK, what do I win.

[quote Z]Get superduper and make a bootable backup on an external drive and update it from time to time?
Good idea - I should have done that from the start. I even own a copy of Super Duper.
Thanks

I hope you can recognize that the post was in jest. And I certainly am a drama queen but in no way a liar - not that you insinuated that .
I rather enjoy my posts - for a couple reasons - one being the magnetic ability of them to attract certain humorless, unhelpful and sometimes cruel members who then post and expose themselves as such - who then other members can take note of and know who to stear clear of. (ended that with a preposition - damn!)
Yeah - I was dramatic - "Oh crap! I can't ebelieve I lost my install discs! What'll I do now?" but it's actually not a totoally inane question to post - because perhaps someone may have known about a special coupon for $50 off at XXX store, etc. - like BGnR did.
I'm ignoring LEMON from now on. And I'll be continuing to post as I feel the need. And if anyone doesn't like MY posts - ignore me.
THanks
Jerry
