Failing that, how about reducing the number of them, or requiring reasons to own them other than I want one? Other countries have, and they have a fraction of our gun deaths.

In MN, you will be registered and require insurance. I would LOVE to have the same rules for gun owners. And if the gun is used in a crime, the owner takes responsibility. And the insurance rates will be accordingly.

Cigarettes are quite restricted and regulated. As are cars. I'd be happy to start there with respect to guns. We can tackle hammers last, as they are the least deadly of the batch.

Does that include the people that forget they’ve got a loaded weapon in their carry-on?
What do you think the response of the gun nutters would be if we imprisoned all of them for, say, 5 years in the pen? I’m sure they would applaud it. :RollingEyesSmiley5:

If a gun is used in a crime, the person goes to jail So we can agree that guns can and should be regulated, as are other potentially dangerous things. The question then becomes to what degree should something should be regulated. Yet even the slightest increase in regulation of guns of any kind is met with extreme prejudice. Also, unfair comparison between hammers and AR-15s. You need to categorize the hammer you just did the gun. Ball-peen? Claw? Framing? Tack? They are all very different, as I am sure any proper hammer aficionado would know, and would insist on explaining the differences ad infinitum every time the subject of hammer bans came up in every forum on the planet.
