Here on the left coast, it ended about 15 minutes ago. I was very impressed. The only thing I fear now is that he will not be elected. I don't expect him to keep each and every one of his promises, but I trust that he will do as much as he can. The truth is that he would be "just" the president, so without the support of Congress, things may look different than what he envisions. I trust him, though, when he promises that we will be headed in a new direction that will eventually make things better.

Excuse me, but don't you guys get bored with yourself? One post saying isn't Obama just great and then 225 replies saying amen. I must have missed the Kool-Aid powder that came with my last Mac purchase.

They charged him the "base rate" of $1 million per network, which is a lot o' cash, but it's not like for that amount of money he could have cured cancer or anything.

I think that using private financing is a dangerous move. It looks like it will work for Obama this time, but I wonder what all the Obama supporters here will do in 4 or 8 years when the Republican candidate chooses to use private financing. I think those will be very ugly campaigns, and knowing that the Republicans can tap into the Diebolds and News Corps' , etc. finances, I think that this may be the last hurrah for Democratic candidates.
I'm of the mind that campaigns should be given x amount of public dollars and each campaign needs to determine how best to effectively use the money. That would level the playing field.

The money he raised over the course of the campaign.. over 50% of it was small unique contribution under $250. What would you have him spend the money on? Robocalls?
it's not like people contributed to his campaign expecting him to instead sponsor scholarships for disadvantaged students or something.
I thought it was about the best way to spend a lot of money responsibly. The money was donated to help him reach the masses and sway voters. What's the better way of spending this money in his political campaign?

i heard a radio report the other day which said he HAS to use the money he's raised. that surprised me as i always assumed candidates could bankroll any excess for future campaigns. apparently, it's use it or lose it. the republican charge that Obama is buying the election does not trouble me becuase of how the money was raised. someone like Perot or Bloomberg (if he had chosen to run) using their personal fortunes to fund a presidential run would greatly trouble me.

I think it is very rare for the Democrats to raise more than the Republicans, and the GOPs are discovering that they don't like it when it happens.

I can't recall the last time the Dems raised more than the Pubs and it's looking like they'll NEED to spend every dime of it.
