Been there, done that exact same thing with some Black & Decker Hedge Hogs. I too never thought it would happen to me. Instead of one really long extension cord, I now have a long one and one short one. A replacement plug is not that hard to put on either end, thankfully.

I've searched a lot for a "connector" that will nicely splice 2 wires together that I've sheared apart doing the same chore. I know you can put a plug on each end of the severed cord, but it seems like there ought to be some kind of a slim connector that will safely join the 2 ends and not be much thicker than the cord. Anyone seen such a thing?

This is a MUCH better product for trimming hedges. Go for quality.

I agree on using electrical cord as speaker wire.
