I run mostly two programs on the PC side of the ol' Frakkintosh, LTspiceIV for circuit simulation and ARTA for audio spectrum analysis. Hate having to reboot just to use those two programs. Crossover Mac to the rescue -- they both work very well, no Windows needed.
LTspice just works. Go, transistor-heads!
With my Main Board sound hardware -- 24-bit, 96kHz Intel High Definition Audio -- ARTA needs its sample rate and the sample rate set in OSX's Audio MIDI Setup utility to be the same -- if they are different you get an error message. Resolution can be set to 24-bits in AMS, and left there, but ARTA only works if it is set to 16-bit resolution. However, it appears that the full resolution of the on-board sound hardware is being used in ARTA anyway. So one of the most powerful audio analysis suites out there works on my Mac.
Wow.
