Learn something new every day
#1
If you want to copy (not move) something from one folder in your hard drive to another, drag the preview icon that appears when you single click on the file.

If you drag the file itself, it will move. You can do the same copy procedure while holding down option key and dragging the file.

Yeah, yeah, I'm the last one on the planet to learn this one. Actually, I figured it out by accident.

I knew the option trick, but not the preview deal...thanks, it works!

eh, don't feel bad.
I can't tell you how many "obvious" or "common knowledge" things I've learned on this forum.
If others are like me, they learned how to use computers by playing around, asking someone at work how to, or reading a forum like this—or they could have read the manual.

oh wait, there isn't one.

Yes, column view. You just grab the preview and drag it, cool, I did not know that.

In any view, single click, Get Info, and drag the preview image to copy. Don't know why anyone would want to go through all of that, but it works.
