Yes, but there are problems no software can solve.

That said, this is pretty amazing--has saved my hash as many times as Disk Warrior has.

*Currently DVD Boot support is not available for the new Apple MacBook Pro 15" and 17" i5 or i7; late 2009 iMac Models with i5 or i7 Intel Processors. This disc can be read by any Intel Mac Model and can be directly booted on all Mac mini, MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac Pro models equipped with Intel Core Duo, Core 2 Duo, or any Xeon processor. Prosoft and other utility makers are awaiting Apple to provide a boot license solution for the Intel i5 and i7 processor based Macs.

Wish I'd noticed this before - looks like it won't boot on any of my Macs.

Apparently no one read the big text in the description that clearly states:

This is item is a bootable* application disc only and requires a valid Drive Genius v3 Serial Number to utilize.

I call attention to need to already own DG3 which is how you'd have a valid serial number for it.

Still reviewing why this item became visible at all... It was originally created and listed for customers who participated in DG v2 to v3 upgrade program. As you can download the full Drive Genius v3 directly from Prosoft - for those who didn't want to or didn't have a DVD burner, this was the option for getting a bootable disc. The description I noticed is a tad out of date as the current v3.1 does boot on 2010 i3/i5/i7 models - which dates the current description.

Customers who have purchased Drive Genius from us at any time were system qualified to purchase this disc only service item.

I am guessing that this offer is shown after you do the $29 purchase and then go back to the page and see the current disc offer.

However this was shown at all - will be corrected. Have put the brakes on even the means to order the disc for the moment. I would add - other than someone publicly posting the link (we'll have to do a login for this kind of thing in future so can't direct link in)... this was a hidden listing.

Are you looking at the same page that is linked above? http://eshop.macsales.com/specialOffers/...de2011.cfm

I can't find the text that you mention, I even viewed the page source and searched for the string "serial" and can't find that. The only clue that it might be an upgrade is the page title and the URL.

That is the offer page for the $29 special. The link to this page was sent to existing customers with a storage purchase as a special. This issue though is with a sequence that can lead a $7.99 offer that was for a boot DVD of the current version.

the $7.99 offer doesn't include a serial number. when in your basket - viewing the product details of the $7.99 item clearly displayed the s/n requirement info. When in the basket - the reference to being boot disc only is less clear... For those that got an email, there was no question of what the offer was... the email is clear on the cost and the prior purchase that qualified for the offer. This went awry when the link was posted publicly without the original content and a sequence allowed 'qualification' to purchase the additional discs.

Customers who ordered the $7.99 boot disc will be contacted and either cancelled or refunded in full or given the option to receive the correct s/n part version for its $29 cost.

Updates have been made which prevent further circumvention accidental or otherwise. Smile

Ok, but what if your order has already shipped, like mine?

If your order shipped last night - you will have the opportunity to pay the net difference to the $29 offered price or receive a refund in full. For orders of only the drive genius disc, that will include any freight paid as well - and in such case, can keep the disc when it arrives. Customer support has been contacting customers this AM and should have all wrapped pretty shortly. I apologize for an inconvenience!
