I was happy to get $240 for a 128 about five years ago. No box, though.

its crazy to think back about how truly revolutionary the product was.

Pictures of the styrofoam?
I guess they were really serious about trying to let folks know about how totally original this thing is.

I recall several years ago seeing a completed auction on ebay for just the cardboard box from a Mac128K sold for $500. I showed it to my wife to justify the Mac 512K that I have in it's original box taking up storage space in the house.

According to EveryMac, this computer sold for $2495 back in 1984. The BLS CPI inflation calculator says that $5,466.98 has the same buying power today.
If this person was the original owner of this machine, he/she lost money because it only sold for $3,519.84. Their "investment" didn't even keep up with inflation.

My little brother worked at Apple back then, and my "family" price :-) was $1,200..., so if the seller "had a connection" they came out OK, investment-wise.

I have a 128K and a 512K, but not the ones I originally bought way back.
Check out the seller's eBay store. Lots of other interesting stuff. http://www.ebay.com/sch/gdavis6610/m.html?rt=nc&nma=true&item=280851082417&si=8YbKMcJa%252BCZIoVOEFSPwXtAVDjU%253D&viewitem=&orig_cvip=true&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3Cimg+class%3D&_trksid=p4340.l2557&_trksid=p4340.l2562

The case was "signed" by the development team. Were all of the 128K Macintoshes signed back then or is this a unique item?
