Is this the Founding Fathers' vision? Armed guards in schools?

More instructive than all the "lefties." Check the US numbers. Roughly 2/3 of total homicides in US from guns in 2010.

The propaganda arm of the small arms industry (NRA) think that more guns are the answer. Quelle surprise!

Alternative #1 - Fully disarm the nation. Mass murder is impossible without the tools.

So we post misleading statistics - what's the big deal?

How does noticing that we like to cherry-pick data tell you something about how we like to operate?

Clearly there are absolutely no other cultural or societal factors at play, the only possible use of firearms is to commit murder, and if they didn't exist, potential murderers would be forced to ineffectually point their fingers at their intended victims and make "bang bang" noises with their mouth, and watch helplessly as their intended targets run away

"Arkansas' future governor, Asa Hutchinson, is involved in this. If there ever was a bigger POS politician, I'd like to know who. I guarantee y'all that there will end up being compulsory NRA-sponsored "training" sessions for the schools, for which the NRA will get the government to pay for. The graft and corruption will be on such a scale to rival Halliburton. There will end up more deaths and injuries than if the guards had never been there."

Again... Why do you think this looks good? It doesn't.

Look at all of those countries where people are safer from murder than in the USA... Hurray! We're safer than Columbia! And we're just as safe as Iraq, Libya and Iran, but not as safe as Egypt or Yemen or China.

You're happy about that? It's disgraceful!

Guess you just don't grasp that the two maps presented are somehow connected...

...many of these "civilized and advanced" nations with low homicide rates also fall into the 30 to 50 firearms per 100 people category, while the more violent nations (meaning those with higher homicide rates than the USA) tend to fall into the 0.1 to 10 or 10 to 30 firearms per 100 people category.

Taking these basic numbers, it would seem that a certain level of gun ownership contributes to general public safety, while a low rate of gun ownership contributes to a greater homicide number public danger.

When I first came to this forum SDguy seemed to be on a passionate mission to disprove climate change.... he kind of cycles like this, I think. Could be seasonal, but I haven't paid close attention.
