Every time I see my SO's iOS7 iPad, I'm deeply thankful that I haven't "upgraded" mine. The iOS7 UI is some kind of sick joke.

Add to that the ridiculously skinny fonts that people over 50 can't even read and you have a COLOSSAL SCREWUP!
The fonts are perfectly legible on iPads; I don't have an iPhone, so I can't comment on how legible they are on a small screen. But I have no problem with them at all on the iPad Mini. It's probably a bit tricky getting text display to be equally legible on the range of screen sizes used by iPhones and iPads.
I found that I got used to the new interface pretty quickly. But I didn't have years of familiarity with the previous iOS versions to make the transition difficult.
I have far less of a problem with the iOS 7 look and feel than I have with some of the changes made to the Mac OS starting with Lion. Some truly pointless crap there, and new problems introduced with things like sleep and improper disk ejection that they still haven't managed to fix.

Even if you can actually figure out how to work this thing, why oh why did apple choose to mimic the styleless google and Microsoft Windows 8 interface look.>>>

I truly despise the flat look and I want the old icons back. Why couldn't they have given us a choice? I have refused to upgrade icons if the only reason is to change the icon - example: iBooks. I can't stand the "new" iBooks icon so I'm trying to keep the old icon around as long as I can. It's the only "old" one I have left. I know this probably sounds petty and I acknowledge that. I don't care if it's petty. It's the way I feel.
Secondly, the folders are much harder to use. Before iOS7, all 20 icons of the contents could be seen on one screen. Now, there are multiple screens and it's harder to find what you are looking for.
The light fonts on light backgrounds are a serious problem for people with vision issues, too.
All in all, I'd rather go back to iOS6. I wish I had never upgraded.

Wow. So much hatred for an operating system on a PHONE.
I'm perfectly fine with iOS7. So is my wife. And my child. And everyone I know...except for you folks. Yeesh!

Ehhhh, it's an iOS.
I'm not a fan of the new look, either... but then, they did add some very badly needed features, such as the ability to block callers.
The problem (as I see it) is that they went for form over function, and also removed features as they added some. They also seem to want to converge everything toward the iOS, which is (IMO) stupid and a result of an increasingly M$-like mentality... for example, that we should all have everything in the cloud. So I'm less bothered by what they've done with the iOS, and more bothered by what they've done to OS X. Example: right now, iTunes is a bloated mess, and Mavericks taking away the ability to sync by USB is a deal-breaker for me.
