We as a nation are good and truly addicted. And I mean that in the most unfortunate and unhealthy way possible. Keep writing those monthly checks, folks. Continue to reward them, they've earned it. Sorry for the rant, but it is what it is.

Charter to try once again for Time Warner Cable. AT&T to likely gobble up DirecTV.

That last one disturbs me the most. Some years ago a DirecTV and Dish merger was seen as wildly verboten, but one of them being eaten by the nation's largest cell and DSL provider is OK, different. And once again, making AT&T give concessions isn't seen a red flag. For some reason.

I don't pay for traditional TV. I have OTA and I have Netflix, well Amazon has Prime video with my Prime sub. Let all the TV companies gobble themselves up. I'll keep scrounging around for the cheap/free leftovers.

However, I'm very concerned about Internet access. That's the true battleground.

It's all about the last mile and the use of civic grant monopolies, which were 'required' in the early days of wiring. That logic is gone, but the laws put in place to support it are still there.

Not to mention you'd get pretty tired carrying it around.
