my Discover account is showing a 5% cashback bonus but i generally make large electronic purchases on Amex to get the 90 damage/theft protection and the double warranty. and i'll at least get 1% with that. good thought, though.
My Discover now also doubles the warranty, just like Amex, and I think it also has the 90 day loss/theft/damage. You might want to call and see if yours has that now. They just added these new coverages recently, I think.
i wasn't aware of that. i just looked. Discover does now double the warranty but their 90 day theft/damage protection is capped at $500.

If you want a 6s 64 gig at Apple, walk in and pay the $820. Get the sim free model, and you can go anywhere and SIM it up. And sell your iPhone 5s.
It will be unlocked. And it will be all yours. All you will need to do is pay for Service.
i thought the 64GB was $749. are you including tax or is there a more expensive sim free/unlocked model? i'm with ATT and quite happy to stay there at the present time.

How about costco? Usually no upgrade fees.
These are over at dealnews:
Phone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus with a $250 Target Gift Card for $0 down at Target
Anything that can take the sting out of paying $650 or $750, respectively, for these Apple phones is a blessing. Assuming you can find something to spend $250 on at Target makes this the best deal we've seen on either of these models.
the Target gift card seems to be available if enrolling in an installment plan. Best Buy has a $200 BB gift Card but you have to trade in a 5 or newer phone.

No idea on the particulars, just saw it and thought I would pass it along. =)

Yes , including tax. Just bought 4 at Apple store last week. Walked in at 10:00 out at 10:10. Left that line out the door for tech support.
Oh, and we bought one at Tmobile so we get help with early termination fee.
So TAX is something to consider.

I just got an Air 2, $70 off MSRP, with another 10% off via Cartwheel, and using a $200 Target Trade-In card.
That $250 gift card would work for me.

Maybe not.
Target Black Friday: $250 Gift Card When You Choose Installment Billing on iPhone 6s 16GB 6s or iPhone 6s Plus 16GB ( Verizon or Sprint ) - $250 Gift Card
VZW or Sprint, 16G, installment plan.
None of that works for me.

semi-related question regarding the different phones... Back in the day there were reasons some didn't like the Verizon iPhones (other than not being able to jump from carrier to carrier a la tmobile to ATT) like they "crippled" the phones, etc. is that still the case or are the Verizon phones pretty much identical software-wise now, too? Thanks. I ask because I'm also in the market for an upgrade and am free to go with anyone plan-wise. Thanks.

Of note, Walmart will have the iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus bundled with a $100 bill credit and $100 Walmart gift card, if you're looking to shave money off the cost of the purchase of the actual phone and not on some mysterious future purchase.
When you buy your own phone, there aren't upgrade fees, unless your carrier actively hates you.

I can see the carrier being a problem. I can see the capacity being a problem as well. As to the installment plan, unless there is a penalty for paying off early, you get an interest free loan divided into a number of months (generally 24). If you get tired of paying off monthly, just cut the carrier a check for the remainder.
