Romance novel. Not exactly a historical documentary. I hear they actually get around to some superficial treatment of British politics in succeeding episodes. They sure seem to walk down that long fancy corridor a lot.

Yes, and the parallels and contrasts to "The Crown" are hard to avoid. Young queens coming into their own with the fatherly advice of sage prime ministers.

For both series, I keep wondering how much, if any, was filmed at the actual palaces, particularly the exterior scenes. It's one thing to build a soundstage replica of some White House rooms and corridors for "The West Wing" or "Designated Survivor," but quite an undertaking to replicate Buckingham Palace. Perhaps Pinewood Studios has a permanent Buckingham set somewhere.

The actress portraying Victoria is way too pretty for the part. Even as a young woman, Victoria was hard to look at.
