to fridge or not to fridge
#1
that is the question.

when I was a kid, the pb we bought had all kinds of crap in it to preserve it.

TJs organic almond butter. Fridge it or not?
I can kill a jar by myself in two weeks.
Jar says fridge. Some sites say OK 3-5 weeks.
I prefer it not chilled, but ....

If it were inorganic, it would be safe to store outside of the fridge.

Fritz,

The jar says to fridge. That”s your answer. No need to delve further.

No fridge, just put it on the back porch, which should keep it chilled

Natural PB tastes and spreads better at room temp. Nut oils go rancid quickly but as long as your kitchen isn't unusually warm, you can keep natural peanut butter on the shelf for a couple of weeks with no problem.

I keep half a jar out, and the rest in the fridge. I store nuts in the freezer, nut oil does not freeze and the colder temp extends the freshness.

You will be fine. We've been using un-fridged nat PB for 10+ years. Slightly warmer climate that you (Mid-atlantic). Never had an issue. Various brands, crunchy, creamy. All the same. At the moment, we finish a jar in about 2 weeks, but sometimes that stretches out a week or two. Absolutely no issue or noticeable loss of quality.

I fridge my natural PB after stirring mainly to keep it from separating.
