If you're talking about the state of Texas then let me fix that for you:

Most other chargers take 2-3x as long or more. I always charge at home, 240v so it takes 8-10 hrs but I plug in over night. There's no shame in using an ICE when it still makes sense. Any road trips, and we would rent a ICE car.

Plug-in hybrids are underrated for near-term transition for those in cities and subrubs that aren't overly sprawled. With a 30 mile range, I would be able to do the majority of my routine weekday travel on EV, but have the ICE at the ready for longer journeys.
But no one is even trying to ship plug-ins to my market. I am not confident that will change even if the chips catch up.

All the ones you see on Cars.com are already spoken for, or are limited to residents of that particular area. For year-old used ones (which might actually exist and be available) they’re asking close to a $10K premium over the list for a new one. I once read that Toyota decided that hydrogen cars were the future. I don’t know if they were caught flat-footed, or are intentionally trying to depress sales, but they are leaving a ton of money on the table.

Seems like they'll have plenty of time to catch up.

Any road trips, and we would rent a ICE car. We just came back from a 3500 mile trip in our Volt. There were four hotels we stayed at that had 110v outlets for car tank heaters which we could have used had I not been too lazy to unload our gear to dig out our EVSE cable. (Yes, we went north and west.) I don’t know why Toyota is so against EVs but they have been all along. Might well be that pdq is right about hydrogen. >>> Every Plug-In-Hybrid Vehicle for Sale in the U.S. Today Over 30 plug-in hybrids are available in the U.S., from the 105-MPGe Ford Escape to the 986-hp Ferrari SF90 Stradale.
