I upgraded my MacBook Pro 215 from Big Sur to Monterey a few weeks ago. I had some oft-used programs whose new versions required Monterey. It's been smooth so far. My only quibbles is that (many) apps' dock & switcher icons changed from nicely-distinguishable unique shapes to homogenized roundrects - thanks a lot, Apple.
