Fake app reviews

I wish this came as a surprise to me.

Someone is buying lots of App Store apps, then posting positive reviews... and isn't in the employ of the developers.

WTF?

The Apple App Store is almost unusable. Many times I am unable to find an app that meets my search criteria (yet I know it exists). There's no way to filter out apps that want more money after installation. The descriptions are terrible and often completely misleading. I honestly don't know how Apple gets away with it.

If I need an app I will google "iPhone app I'm looking for -subscription". That's a more honest result. Often I can find a top five or top ten list with at least some description.

I can't remember the last time I downloaded a new app.

Yes. It's awful. The idea of browsing there makes my skin crawl. When I can, I get apps from trusted sources rather than through the App Store. Affinity sells through the App Store, but my last purchase was directly from them.
