Not an option for me, in process of hiring 2 new employees, but there is no way they will be ready in time so I have employee flexibility. Just hoping I don't have work on Christmas Day.

Before I retired from "The Buick", production workers always had the week off between Christmas and New Years Day. Maybe a day or two more or less depending on what day Christmas fell on.
It was totally different once I became a tradesman at the site. Weekends and Holidays were ALWAYS busy. I remember one year back in the early nineties we worked every single day of the year. We earned big money weekends and Holidays and had very little time to spend it! Semi retired now, with my investments and my small mini storage business. I'm always on call for that, so no Holiday break, but thankfully, my tenants aren't too demanding.

I no longer have any desire to go shopping, so no real plans.
Back in my refinery days, about once every 8 years, we would work 24th (2-1/2 ot on holidays), 16 hours on the 25th, then 16 hours on New years. That was a big paycheck.

When he gets home on the 25th in the morning, he will start the coffee, and they will have breakfast or brunch and open presents.

Started a new job a few months ago, so have limited vacation this year. In the past, I took the last 2 weeks of December off.
New employer gives us Boxing Day off and will close early on Friday. I'll use three days to take all of next week off. |
