Dr. Pepper with cane sugar

[quote elmo3]you probably wouldn't pass a blind taste test on that. You're just equating it all with the high school football memories.
Yes, elmo, that must be it.

I think drinking soda from a glass bottle is great on a hot day because the glass gets cold. The plastic doesn't get as cold and it's not as good.

I'd be willing to bet I could pass a blind test on taste of glass vs. plastic bottle. But it would be impossible since you'd have to remove it from its container, right?

I guess you could pour into the mouth.

The fact that glass is cold may play a big part.

Plastic imparts a taste all its own. Some say the can does the same.

Plastic, yeah. But, in a valid double blind taste test, you'd be hard pressed to taste the difference between Dr Pepper that came out of a can and Dr Pepper that came out of a glass bottle.

Put them at the same temperature and pour them both into glasses and do the test.

Pouring a soft-drink into a glass changes everything. I hate poured soda. I like the bite of the full carbonation.

Yes, it does make a change. That's why it's difficult to do a truly valid taste test.

The only thing to do would be to create a pouring device that poured the same size and volume stream into your open mouth without you touching the original container, and ideally without the liquid touching some sort of pourer.

Sounds like Mythbuster time to me.

But what's the point of it, when the problem is that when you drink from a plastic botle, you taste and feel the plastic?

A glass bottle doesn't collapse when you suck on it, so you can create a better vacuum that feels sooo good when you pull it off your lip. An ice cold glass bottle stays cold on your lips longer than plastic, too. All these tactile sensations add to the enjoyment factor.

Thus proving that I have too much time on my hands this morning.
