CS3: "A new version of the Adobe Updater is Available [BUT]...
#1
...for installation. Click OK to install it now. Note: You may be required to authenticate in order to install."

Does this mean I'd have to authenticate again? I don't like these murky "notes" when I have an install of CS3 that seems to work... what if there's a problem with authentication?

This is certainly paranoia, but not all paranoia is without merit.

I think that means you have to type in your user password to install. As with other installations.

Yeah, just a normal update, albeit ugly, non-conforming Adobe update window.

the updates:
1. First updates the updater.
2. Then the application updates.

Adobe Updater is one of the reasons Adobe jumped the shark (long ago), IMO.

They are all about geting their users to shell out every 18 months now. I know they have to make money, but I can't say I have a lot of respect for them anymore. There probably will not ever be really great upgrades again: just calculated mixes of a few appealing features and lack of backward compatibility to push people into shelling out on schedule.
