Just ordered my first computer that doesn't have an Apple logo on it.

By all means post a review after you've had a chance to play with it for a while!
I've been lusting after one of those little things for just the reasons you mentioned.

Got one for the lady of the house and she loves it. Took it traveling to Taiwan and Japan. The lightness is a real bonus...perfect for travel. Only downside for me is the small keyboard.

OSX on one of these - too bad it does not seem to work well.

Come on, Apple - this is a market they could own AND make some real $$.

I think the writing was on the wall when Apple removed "Computer" from their name...

...and I will have to discipline you.

And I suspect neither of us will be the worse for it.

I guess I should have ordered a black leather case too, while I was at it. Wink

If you really need a note-taking machine, you'd get an eMate and stick a wireless card in it.

Wimp.

I am a little concerned about Linux, too, but I did play with one of these at a MicroCenter and it was pretty straight forward. I plan to keep it stock, just as it comes out of the box, except maybe upgrading from FF2 to FF3 at some point. I have heard that upgrading apps in Linux is not as easy, but I think that may just be that most people, like me, are unfamiliar with the OS.

I just want it for mobile web and email, like a larger T-Mobile sidekick type device. Some have mentioned a 12" PB as an alternate, but a 12" anything would be too large. This seems to be the sweet spot between size and functionality, but I won't know that for sure till I actually get it and play with it a while. I hope that I like it, otherwise I will probably be eating a lot of crow for buying a non-Mac product.
