Take the quotes away from around "Friendly" Political Ranting. Quotes indicate that you are being sarcastic or else euphemistic, in other words the quotes imply that in fact this is not the place to be Friendly.

Admin Jim is still looking at the budget forecasts for the '09 fiscal year and depending on
first quarter revenues we may lose the quotation marks altogether

I'm beginning to think he should remove the whole word instead of just the quotation marks. He could save even more money, and "Political Ranting" would be so much more descriptive of the way many of the threads go. Smile

This is not a user that's terribly invested in this forum. Probably won't be back to see any of these responses.
Nevertheless, I think the line should be drawn around intent-- did the poster intend to do "damage" to the resource/community in some way.
Of course you would look at the whole picture (posting history) before making a determination . . . in this case it's pretty clear that no harm was intended (I'll note that I love Chicago and don't like seeing idle musings about its destruction for the sake of entertainment either).
On the other hand, we seem to be pretty tolerant of users who do seem to have a primary goal of doing damage to this resource by wanting to turn this board into a place where the order of the day is bitter fighting, and those who don't enjoy that sort of thing stop reading and posting.

I'm curious as to why we haven't heard any outrage from our resident forum republicans over this statement. Could it be they agree with Tron?

Seriously, where are all you 'Pubs at? Did you miss this thread? Are you not upset with one of your own wishing for an attack?:poke:

I'm right here (die hard Republican) and I sure as hell don't ascribe to this line of thinking. I can still be a conservative, and give a damn about my fellow americans, even though I don't agree with them sometimes.
