My heart does not go out to these poor prisoners in TX

Here's my solution:
Everyone, whether they are prisoners or the general public, should be allowed 3 frivolous lawsuits in their life. After the 3rd case which is determined to be clearly frivolous and a burden on the courts, you aren't allowed to file any more lawsuits the remainder of your life.

And what will the people who were imprisoned in New Orleans during the flooding get if they sue ? (All those people who were trapped on the bridges, in the Superdome, etc.) ? And kept from moving around ?

Bupkis, that's what. "Act of god", "weather", etc...

The "imprisoned" N.Orleans people had their mayor and Governer to blame. While the people suffered the mayor was off in a Penthouse with his family watching the storm on TV. I don't know where the governer ended up, but she was not any help.

It wasn't as if the prisoners were the ONLY ones with water cut off, gas cut off and general amenities cut off. At least they had a place to sleep, their bed wasn't destroyed, no trees coming down on their heads....oh, but I forgot about the psychological pain they have suffered---that is one thing the out of jail people didn't suffer when their homes were swept away. They came out laughing. NOT.

complaining without suggestions on how to improve aren't terribly useful.

I sometimes think "This sucks, but I'm not sure how to fix it" may be at least valid, if not really useful.

are you talking about the people IN or OUT of prison? Certainly compassion for thieves and murderers is rather limited in my life.

I might be a bad person for saying this, but I can't get myself all worked-up and feeling sorry for these guys, nor do I see any basis for lawsuits. (td)

So many "free citizens" suffered so much more (from this very same storm and hurricane), while these guys were kept in relative safety, coming through the storm just fine in the end.

Just how useful is a post that does nothing but complain about another posters complaining?

...Because everyone in prison is a thief and a murderer who deserves torment?

There are already laws on the books that allow for barring lawsuits from what are called vexious litigants. In California if you abuse the process with an endless stream of lawsuits and are declared a vexious litigant, you can no longer file suit without prior permission from a judge.
