Sanm,
Nothing in that link at all says China is the only or primary buyer of the scrap in question. For all you know, the scrap brass is being sold to US companies to be used to produce a slew of different products for other US companies to be used in the US. That brass may even work its way into a product you use every day.
This move may reduce the cost of brass produced by domestic companies. That would be a very good thing since the cost of brass has skyrocketed over the years. The increases and market fluctuations have gotten to the point where companies that buy brass products often have no idea how much they'll pay for a given product until the day they need it.
Seems like a non-issue now, though.

I heard a few days ago that Washington is planning to require that each cartridge casing have a serial number stamped on it, making ammunition makers to add a step in the manufacturing process. If they are going to do something like that to trace who fired the shot they should require the number to be on the bullet. Most of them are lawmakers so stupid that they probably do not realize that there are two parts to a "bullet".
Yesterday I was at Cabela's just south of Austin, TX. The gun counter was jammed with maybe 50 customers buying their guns and ammunition before more restrictive laws are passed.

I was in Dick's Sporting Goods the weekend after the election. The place was packed. I was speaking with the Manager and made the comment that it looked like business was good. His comment was that the only things selling were guns and ammunition. In fact he had to expedite an order of both to keep up with demand.

You do realize that's usually made of soft lead?

That's why gun-sellers make such noise about "proposed" laws.
