Thats really rude... And some people are simply very judgmental. The pictures posted are totally without context, and none of us (or at least me as I read this thread) have a clue about the cause of the obesity. Is it simply overeating? Very likely. Could there be another cause? Absolutely. Was the reason made clear? Nope, not as far as I could tell.

While I didn't spend tons of time researching, I do know for a fact there are people in the world who are grossly overweight, but it's not because they simply don't know when to lay down the fork or don't want to. There are also medical causes for obesity, some of them direct and some indirect. I have a cousin who is without a doubt grossly overweight, but it's certainly not because she wants to be. In her case, it's a rather complex combination of medical conditions and the medications she takes to control those other - life threatening - conditions. She certainly doesn't like having to buy her clothes at "the fat lady store", but she sure does like the idea of living to watch her children and grandchildren grow. If the price of that is being fat, she'll take it, and I bet many of the rest of you would, too.

I will stand by my previous position that posting pictures of grossly overweight people, totally without context, and so they can be laughed at, is rude.

Thats one of the most overused, politically correct and idiotic phrases I see today.
If you are anything older then 27, you must have gone through some experiences in life,
you must have made some mistakes in your life.
If you have not learned anything from your past experiences,
if you have not learned anything from your mistakes,
if you cannot form some sort of judgement based on those mistakes,
if you cannot form some sort of judgement based on those experiences,
then you are a total and hopeless idiot.....

BTW: The context.
The fat cattle in those photos are on a cruise. And every time its chow time, they trample everything standing between them the food troughs of the buffet line. Most of their medical conditions are due to their obesity, not the other way around.....
