Question for my fellow desert-dwellers: scorpions, what do YOU do about them?

Scorpions are water-lovers, oddly enough. So you tend to find them in the house where water is, like condensation drips from the toilet tank, in sinks, showers, etc. The most effective way to keep them out of the house is by completely sealing around all pipes and fixtures that come thru walls and floors. Urethane foam works well for this. The sealing will also keep ants out, as well as the other bugs scorpions eat. Worked for me in Panama.

Wait one doggone minute. You're crazy for snakes but don't like scorpions. My reptile/arthropod loving son would be very disappointed in your attitude. :poke:

If I hadn't found dead scorpions in closed "globe" light fixtures, I probably wouldn't mind the little buggers quite so much but it's really creepy to think of them hanging out on the ceiling. I keep envisioning them dropping on my head.

Regarding the other suggestions - sadly, they don't really apply to his house. He's on a half acre of land. Of this, the half that's closest to the house (front yard, back yard & side yards) are completely barren - no wood piles or other potential hiding places for them.

Inside the house, we RARELY encounter any bugs at all. Water doesn't seem to be an issue either since we've never encountered them anywhere near water sources. There's no feasible reason for them to in the house. I'm well aware that the best way to keep pests away is to take away their homes and food sources. As best as I can tell, his home/yard don't offer much of either. Just bizarre.

If they're in the house and they didn't walk through the front door then you have one or more holes to seal.
