Do you think it is ever justified for citizens to take violent action against the government, or is it never justified?

Republican 28% yes, 64% no

Democrat 11% yes, 81% no

Independent 11% yes, 81% no

Imagine what Fox "News" would have made out of this if it had been 28% of Democrats who had answered "yes".

Imagine it was 1953 and a CBS poll came out saying that 28% of Democrats said that taking violent action against the government could be justifiable.

You can imagine anything you want. You need a post for that.

So 28% of republicans are in favor of treason when the mood suits them. That's interesting. Do they claim to be patriots? Do they support John Walker Lindh?

Look who is administering the patriotism test? The guy who can't finish a post without bad mouthing the American way and then digressing on how great Europe, the place he fled on foot, is.

With the way the original poll question is worded, anyone that says no is an idiot.

Yeah, it is poorly worded. What you are alluding to is probably the reason there are about 11% of Independents and Democrats who said, "yes". But that doesn't account for Republicans answering with about 2 and 1/2 times more "yes".

An exceptionally astute observation.

Kudos to the last three posters.

And Dakota, you're still an pseudo-patriotic idiot.

The question provided two answers -- Justified, Never Justified -- which likely negates any effects of its poor wording.

I don't quite understand the problem here UNLESS one is implying that there is something wrong (morally) with "justified defense or offense" from government.

If this is so then are we not back to the question previously posted regarding values?
