It's actually not that smoky at ground level. You can barely smell it. But the light is like twilight on Mars.

On the plus side, it's blocking the sun and keeping the temperatures down, finally got the house cooled off with the windows open overnight when the temps dropped to the high 50s and are still in the low 60s after "sunrise".
Not sure which fire is causing this, the three big lightning fires from over 3 weeks ago are almost out (83%-95% contained). The newest big fire is the Creek fire near Fresno, 163K acres and 0% contained, that's my best guess at the cause for the smoke.

there was also a burner up past Sacramento, that looked like this yesterday -- pano goes from south to west. Sun had just peaked out behind smoke when I took this. 10 minutes before is was all dark yellow.
seems to have quieted down, but maybe smoke is just reaching u... saw Oroville and Paradise (the awful Camp fire was a couple of years ago) are under evac orders ![]()
