I would rather be hit in the eye with a pointy stick.

My daughter and I always get up early and go shopping, this year my husband is planning on joining us. Our town in fairly small so the crowds really aren't that bad.

I'm considering it. 22" HDTV LCD for $119 at Microcenter. Hmmmm.

so far, I haven't seen anything worth me getting up for. I went out the last several years and always found something worth my while. Not this year though. Last year's biggies were the 24" monitor and a decent digital camera for my mother in law. This year, all I really want/need is a couple of inexpensive 1TB internal drives. Haven't seen any deals on them yet. The only other thing I'm remotely interested in is a new Taylor Acoustic Guitar. I have Guitar Center's 15% off one item coupon (last year was 20% off). But they'll have to put it on sale first before I can consider it... 15% off still makes it too expensive for now.

I may let my fingers do some walking but there's no way I'll venture near a store.

My time is usually more valuable to me than the savings in prices. I haven't seen any serious "doorbusters" yet.

I wait till late January, the stuff will be another 50% off by then.

Last year I went to Circuit City at 4 a.m. and the line was already 100+ deep (they opened at 5 a.m.). By the time that I got in, all of the "deals" were gone (TV, laptop, various video games) and all I bought was a Buffalo router and some blank CDs. I also got out of there close to 7 a.m. After I figured that all I saved was $40, it is not worth it for me to do that again; my "savings" were only $13/hour.
You have to budget in your time/savings to see if it is worth it. Anything less than $100/hour savings is not worth it, to me at least. There are ALWAYS deals that you will be able to get online and in January when everyone is broke. |
