Netherlands seem to be the country but I don't know what their experience is. I was somewhat shocked to see broads sitting in windows. So they got the sex thing figured out.
Get your facts straight kid. Drugs are NOT legal in the Netherlands.
Good catch.
Netherlands Drug Policy
What is the catch?

Nevermind caught that you had provided inaccurate info by stating that drugs are legal and taxed in The Netherlands.

You are inferring that I did but I never said that. This is all I said,
"Netherlands seems to be the country but I don't know what their experience is."
Do you see either drug or legal in that statement?

Oh, sure, legalize marijuana...and heroin, lsd, cocaine etc. because "it's too hard to fight it."
That'll work out well. I'm sure we'll all use it responsibly and have no further problems with crime associated with drugs.
If you need me, I'll be in my opium den. Don't expect me to come out in a hurry, though.

Not to hijack the topic, but is there a nation where narcotic drugs are legal and taxed accordingly? If there is one, how successful, is that nation in its war on drugs?

Dakota is wrong so consistently (approaching 100%) that I'm starting to believe that he deliberately posts constant falsehoods because he thinks that will stir people up (rather than laugh at him which is what really happens). Think about it...is it possible for a human to be unintentionally wrong that large a percentage of the time? Funny thing is, whenever someone points out his errors, his usual reaction is to call that person names. Weird.

acer-
or u can be downstairss in your wooden paneled finished basement belting back a case of brewskis with your buds.
my point is that those who are responsible, will act responsibly. those who are not, will not.
casting drugs as illegal has cost this country far more cherished resources than is obvious. it is a dominant factor in both our foreign & domestic policies. few world views can lay claim to both arenas.
on top of all of that policy talk, what we have called a "war" has failed so miserable for so long with so little change in sight that the question begs to be asked:
why don't we end this failed war on drugs?
ymmv
be well

Sorry, but I can't equate brew with crack and call it a day. There are some really nasty, addictive things out there that can ruin your life with one hit. Try bringing your arguments to a Narcotics Anonymous meeting and see what they say.
You could legalize some of them, I suppose. Marijuana seems to be a pretty mild thing, probably not worth the effort of a wholesale ban. There aren't many drugs in that category, though. And weed is not what the drug lords are terrorizing the Columbian countryside over.

The Netherlands liberal non-enforcement of existing drug laws is changing.
They are slowly increasing implementing 'war on drugs' policies.
Does anyone really believe the war lords in Mexico , Columbia, Afghanistan and where-ever else will just cease and desist from controlling the drug market should U.S. policies change ? Good luck with that.
