Well, I guess stocking up pn masks had a fringe benefit. Good luck, Bay Area!!

If you recall at the start of the pandemic a number of tech companies including Apple donated huge stockpiles of N95 masks. The reason they had those in the first place was to protect their employees from the smoke from wildfires.

Large institutions like Facebook, Apple, and Goldman Sachs have donated masks to healthcare workers amid shortages during the coronavirus outbreak, several news agencies reported.

Facebook donated 720,000 masks out of its emergency reserve, Reuters reported; Apple donated 9 million masks...

These organizations had these mask supplies as a means to protect employees from other threats, such as wildfires....

What's is funny is that it is dark, like twilight, not just orange. But there is no smell of smoke. Apparently our famous 'marine layer' (aka the fog) is creating a thermal barrier. We have significant ash fall, but no smell.

Very, very strange.

I had to close all of the windows, my wife was complaining of ash accumulating on the windowsills.

So dark this morning, I went back to bed and slept in. 1:35PM now and it is still dark.

Crazy!

Is it wise to keep the windows open when you're sleeping even if your nose doesn't smell smoke? I guess since you're alive to post on MRF it was ok last night. Not sure I would risk it if it was me. I'd keep the windows shut with AC on recirculate until this passes.

I check the air quality index before opening windows and before going to bed, don't really trust my nose for that. Even now with the sun blocked out, my AQI is 84.

Around here it was almost as bad.

At near 1500hrs it's as dark as 0600, just a bit less orange.

As in many other areas, little smoke smell.
