How many zip codes are there?

If you want t real answer to that, I can fire up my FileMaker solution at work. I have all the US zip codes loaded in there. Wanna really know how many?

Jeff
What a generous offer!

To suggest Apple TV sold only 10-15 units is ludicrous. I thought a zip code example would offer a slightly more realistic perspective. Not accurate, but something a notch or two down on the hyperbole scale.

Since you offered, heck yeah! You paid for that Filemaker app, why not make it do something useful and entertaining? How many?

There's gotta be at least 100 zip codes, maybe more!

As has already been stated, that article doesn't cite any numbers. So go ahead, prove me wrong.

With the exception of a couple TV spots right after it came out, I have seen ZERO print ads, ZERO banner ads outside of Apples own sites, and heard of ZERO people locally talking about it, discussing it, or saying "I have to get one of those!".

Maybe they've sold incredibly well despite all that... that would be great.

But the Apple TV is still the slutty fat girl of the party... some people might "know" her, but they're not admitting they "know" her!

Some friends of mine recently bought one and are absolutely thrilled with it. Just having their picture library as the screensaver on their big screen TV was worth it for them!

I know her!

She's sitting near my TV right now.

Seriously, for what it is; the Apple TV is great. I wish Apple would give it a web browser just so I could watch TV shows and movies on Hulu.com.

And while we're at it...why not open up Apple TV to play more codecs?

Streaming works very well so limited storage isn't an issue.

It would be cool if Apple could open it up to the App Store and let users play games on the big screen.

I still don't know what it does.

I know what it does, but it seems like it does about a quarter of what similarly priced devices do.

I like mine so much, that I *just* now placed an order for another refurb! Although I don't do many rentals, streaming is just plain awesome on these things.

I've been wanting a 2nd one for a few months now, but have been holding off for an upgraded model. Now that I pulled the trigger, I'm certain ATV 2.0 will be announced soon.

Doing my part to keep the economy rolling! :patriot:

I, too, am still puzzled - does it do anything well except allow one to order movies from iTunes?

Check - Boxee already does this http://www.boxee.tv/

Check - Boxee and XBMC http://xbmc.org/

Agreed - see above

Hmm, don't know if anyone is working on this yet.

There is a web browser than runs on AppleTV - though it's no Safari

I've been running Boxee and XBMC on my AppleTV for a month - works great.

YES! I have never rented or bought any iTunes movies or shows (except the free ones) and I love my Apple TV. Even as a music streamer/controller alone, it is pretty nice.

Last night I watched a HD nature podcast from Earth-Touch.com- really beautiful stuff.
Tonight I watched last night's 24 episode that I forgot to DVR. Could have paid to rent it via iTunes, but watched it free via Hulu/Boxee on the Apple TV.
