Cigarettes . . .
#21
About 20 years ago my wife came home and was upset because one of her co workers had lung cancer so she asked me to quit.

I thought about it for a coupla days and told her that I understood how hard it would be to find a good husband to replace me, and that I would quit. Rolleyes

I quit smoking, alcohol, and coffee. Stayed away from the friends that smoked and stayed away from anything that I associated with smoking and haven't looked back.

To keep me busy I took up Mac computers. Could hardly spell computer but my wife helped me learn and she doesn't complain when I spend money on computing junk. She knows the computer bug is way cheaper than the smoking.

Also, my doctor likes it better this way.

I do partake of alcohol and coffee presently. It no longer makes me crave a cigarette.

my late uncle John was a 2-pack a day smoker.

until he died at at 60 from emphysema.

(RIP JW)

fortunately, i never started. my dad used to smoke cigars, then pipe, then stopped for a while. now he's back on cigars, much to my mom's displeasure. but at 73, you're not gonna change him. he's survived prostate cancer and a heart attack, so he probably figures he's gonna enjoy his twilight years.

http://www.snusify.com/ My friend from England's website. I used to smoke two packs a day. I quit by using the patch, but then the patch started making my arm break out in rashes and making me have heart palpitations and chest pains. I tried using Commit lozenges, but they contain aspartame, which I'm sensitive to. I tried using nicotine gum, but it gave me a sore throat. I couldn't go back to smoking, because I lost both my parents to cancer (they were also heavy smokers), as well as two of my grandparents and several aunts and uncles. But I was going crazy! Enter Swedish Snus. I feel like myself again and it doesn't cause cancer. Don't buy the American brands of Snus, though, because they won't tell you what's in it.

Smoke free and happy as a clam! :-) Also, it only costs about $3.00 and lasts for about three days.

I've never smoked, but some of my clients do. They have no expendable income, so they buy these "cigars" that basically look like light brown cigarettes, and cost 11.00/carton. I figure it's a way to get past the taxes. kj.

I've never smoked, but I've known seven close friends and relatives (including my mother) who smoked for a long period of time. Every single one of them died a protracted and unpleasant death of lung cancer. Let that be a warning to you smokers.

Nicotine is no worse than caffeine, as long as you don't smoke it and buy Swedish Snus. 60 Minutes did a good story on it recently.

We are at a wedding in California this weekend. I'm amazed at how many young people are smoking. These are urban professionals...supposedly they should know better. Actually, they all admit to knowing better, but they do it anyway. What gives?

Don't knock'em. They are helping the children.

I quit some time ago -- 6? 7? years maybe? -- but that was my cigarette of choice. Loved the graphics on the pack. And loved the taste, I must admit.

The last cigarette I smoked was this past April Fool's Day. I was flying to the Bahamas w/ the missus and had had it dealing w/ cigarettes, matches, lighters, customs, pockets, what bag could or couldn't have 'em all - the works. I just left 'em at home and was having such a good time there, didn't even miss them. Smoked a coupla Cubanos while there, and 3 Fuentes Hemingways since, but haven't even wanted a cigarette. Still have 3 left in the Ranger's glove compartment. Smoked since 1968, too.

They are rebelling against "the man" aka you or anyone else that tells them what they should do
